For Real?

Did you see Minn win @Ill last night? I think we both agree that IL is not for real, but how for real is Minn? I picked them to be the 6th best team in the league in my early season picks, and you predicted them in a 3 way tie for 4th with UW and OSU.
Do you think Minn will be able to challenge MSU, Ind and Mich for the title?

  1. I was frankly bedazzled by Minnesota's performance last night. They looked awesome and deep and confident and skilled and tough. I think they are for real. I think they are clearly better than WI and OSU at this point. They looked better than I have seen MSU play, though I expect MSU to get better.

Two telling games tonight with MSU at Iowa and Northwestern at Penn State. MSU needs a win to be a contender; Iowa needs a win to be a tourney team; Northwestern needs a win to keep any faint tourney hopes alive.

  2. I'm not quite there on Minnesota. They have an opportunity to prove me wrong in the next couple games.
On another topic what do you think of adding a new hand to poker hierarchy? A straight of all the same color. Better than a flush. Maybe better than a full house but I would have do some math. Plus it would need a name.

  4. Black smack. Black attack. Although I like redrum better than red run. I guess if were are going to judge the racist angle of this idea- would equal value straights of Black or Red be higher?
We could get into a whole thing about if African Americans or Native Americans have been more oppressed, but that's probably a better topic for another blog.

  5. Back to basketball. Big win for MSU tonight to keep them in the championship conversation.
I also never get sick of seeing UNC lose, especially at home, and especially to midling teams like Miami.

  6. It was a big win for MSU. I think wins at Iowa (and possibly Wisconsin) will be the dividing line between contenders and pretenders at the top of the conference.

Iowa really blew that game, but that's no surprise really. They aren't used to winning.

  7. Looked like Minn. was going to get blown out by IU--but their impressive comeback bolstered my opinion of them. Real solid looking team.
